In what ways is PVC heat transfer vinyl different from PU heat transfer vinyl?

PU heat transfer vinyls are more stretchable than traditional PVC heat transfer vinyls, so they feel like part of the garment. They are perfect for apparel graphics because of their soft “hand”.

 

Meanwhile, PU T-shirt heat transfer films are usually thicker and cheaper than PVC heat transfer films.

How to use PU heat transfer vinyl?

  • By using a cutting plotter, you can cut your media in reverse order.
  • Remove any extra or unnecessary parts of the media.
  • Use target materials, such as shirts, to place your design.
  • Make sure the heat press machine is set to 130-140°C.
  • It should be pressed for a minimum of 12 – 15 seconds.
  • Once the project is complete, remove the protective film.

What material is best for PU heat transfer vinyl?

Polyester or cotton/poly blends are the best fabrics for heat transfer vinyl. An iron will not work on artificial fabrics, such as acrylic, because they will melt. It can be applied to t-shirts, backpacks, caps, etc.
