Difference between high luster's engraving reflective HTV and self-adhesive reflective tape

Reflective HTV is nothing like self-adhesive reflective tape. These two reflective materials will be distinguished below.

  • Self-adhesive Reflective Tape:

A variety of grades, thicknesses, colors, as well as sizes, are available. It has backing paper on the back and then an adhesive liner that feels sticky when peeled off. This is a pressure sensitive adhesive layer specially used for reflective tapes. Self-adhesive reflective tape can be directly stuck to trailers, boats, cars, bicycles, mailboxes, etc.

  • Reflective Heat Transfer Vinyl:

The material, commonly referred to as HTV, is not sticky and instead is fusing with heat to fabrics, such as shirts, totes, coats, scarves, blankets, stuffed animals, etc. It is designed to be applied with a heat press, but can also be ironed on.  Vinyl HTV is cut so that the clear side faces DOWN, and the dull back faces UP.  This is then flipped horizontally so that the design is cut only through the vinyl and the extra is weeded away.  Once your design is applied to your garment, you remove the carrier sheet.  Additional transfer tape is not needed.
