Listen, Improve, Deliver: Improvements to YGM’s Silver PET Film Process

For YGM, the most valuable insights often come directly from customers. Shortly after delivering a batch of silver PET film, a customer contacted the YGM team to report a problem: the edges of the PET film they received exhibited noticeable curling. This complaint drew the attention of the YGM team, who immediately launched a comprehensive investigation to identify the root cause and find a solution.

After each batch of products is manufactured, our quality control and engineering teams retain a portion of the original production samples. YGM team retested this batch of silver PET film samples, including product stability testing and internal stress analysis under simulated transportation and storage temperature conditions.

Through detailed evaluation and in-depth discussion, the quality control team determined that the problem was not a surface defect or coating failure in the PET film, but rather a structural imbalance within the material composite layers. Specifically, the PE layer in this batch of films had a higher shrinkage rate than the PET base layer. In the original PET film structure, the PE layer was relatively thick, and temperature fluctuations during transportation and storage caused internal tension between the two materials. This differential shrinkage resulted in film edge curling and warping.

Based on the material performance analysis results, YGM’s engineering team quickly optimized the structure of the silver PET film. First, we optimized the layer-to-thickness ratio. By reducing the thickness of the PE layer, we effectively reduced its shrinkage stress under temperature fluctuations. Simultaneously, we increased the thickness of the PET layer to enhance overall dimensional stability.

In addition to structural improvements, YGM also upgraded the packaging of its silver PET film. A custom-made wooden crate was created, and a layer of pearl cotton was placed around the crate to absorb shock and reduce external collisions during transportation.

Following the implementation of structural optimization and packaging upgrades, YGM immediately arranged for the improved silver PET film to be delivered to the customer for evaluation. The customer feedback was clear and positive: the upgraded silver PET film arrived perfectly flat, with no curling during handling or processing.

For YGM, customer feedback is always crucial—it is the starting point for our continuous improvement. YGM upholds an open communication philosophy and values the opinions of every customer. We appreciate customer feedback, which helps us identify areas for improvement, thereby continuously developing and refining our reflective solutions.
