In the high-visibility safety workwear industry, reflective materials must offer more than just a bright appearance. The true test lies in maintaining reflective brightness above safety standard thresholds even after repeated washing, dry cleaning, abrasion, and flexing.
YGM’s D001-GSS silver segmented reflective heat transfer vinyl (HTV) is widely used in workwear, sportswear, fashion apparel, and various textile applications, thanks to its superior reflectivity, excellent wash durability, and flexible segmented design.
I. Product Overview
D001-GSS is a silver, segmented reflective heat transfer vinyl with a total thickness of 150±10 microns. It features a silver finish and a retro-reflective coefficient exceeding 400 cd·lx⁻¹·m⁻². Its excellent initial reflectivity ensures worker visibility and safety during night, dusk, rain, and fog conditions.
II.Four Key Highlights of Segmented Reflective HTV
1.Robust Wash Durability: The segmented structure relieves stress caused by fabric deformation; compared to solid reflective films, it offers superior resistance to cracking and peeling after repeated washing. The YGM D001-GSS series has passed the full suite of TÜV SÜD ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 tests.
Wash Durability:
– Home Wash: 50 cycles, 60°C, ISO 6330
– Industrial Wash: 25 cycles, 75°C, ISO 15797
Dry-cleaning Durability: 35 cycles, ISO 3175
Passed all ANSI durability tests: Abrasion resistance, repeated flexing, low-temperature folding, temperature cycling, and wet reflectivity performance.
2.Enhanced Breathability and Comfort: Hollow gaps create air circulation channels, solving the stuffiness issue of full-cover solid film for greater comfort under hot working conditions.
3.Elasticity Matching the Fabric:Features stretch-and-recovery properties compatible with softshell and stretch workwear fabrics; the reflective film stretches in sync with the fabric, minimizing the risk of cracking or breaking.
4.Versatile Design:Can be used as safety warning strips or cut into trendy patterns, balancing the safety requirements of workwear with the aesthetic appeal of sportswear and fashion apparel.
III. Heat Transfer Process Parameters |Production Guidelines
D001-GSS utilizes a heat-press application method; it requires no sewing, leaves no needle holes, and preserves the fabric’s waterproof integrity. It is suitable for mass production of workwear. Recommended operating parameters are as follows:
– Hot-press temperature: 150–160°C
– Hot-press pressure: 3–4 kg/cm²
– Hot-press dwell time: 13–15 s
– Operational tips: Allow to cool completely before peeling off the PET release film (cold peel). Peel the film steadily at a 45° angle; do not yank it off abruptly.
IV.Usage Recommendations
- Best suited for highly wash-resistant woven workwear fabrics;
- Not recommended for coated fabrics, DWR (Durable Water Repellent) fabrics, leather, nylon, PVC, or similar substrates, as adhesion issues may occur;
- Do not apply heat directly over seams or stitching lines;
- Actual results may vary depending on the specific fabric and heat press equipment; always conduct small-batch trials before proceeding to mass production to finalize the application parameters.
V.Conclusion
D001-GSS segmented reflective heat transfer vinyl integrates high retro-reflective brightness, breathable stretchability, excellent wash resistance and third-party TÜV compliance to ANSI/ISEA 107. Its segmented hollow-gap design breaks the limitation of conventional safety-only reflective trims. It meets stringent PPE workwear standards meanwhile expanding application scope to sportswear & fashion apparel.
